ABOUT US
Ekhaya Skills Initiative is a non–profit and public benefit organisation based in Uitenhage (Eastern Cape), South Africa. Ekhaya Skills ensures the development and empowerment of young people in their holistic development through running an Information and Support Centre. The organisation also facilitates programmes on Social Awareness and Mentorship for personal development and victim empowerment.



SERVICES
INFORMATION AND SUPPORT CENTRE
This Centre offers:
A computer centre with internet access where young people can research job opportunities.
Training & information about Bursaries including daily updates on issues in South Africa and around the World.
Consultancies and Liaison between stakeholders and the communities.
A space for Government Departments to bring and display their information at the Centre as well as the Private Sector to showcase opportunities they offer to the community.

Pilot Information and Support Centre at Limekhaya High School.
Life Skills & Mentorship Programme at three local primary schools.
Arts Wing (made up of 25 youth artists who are learners at Limekhaya High School).
Feeding Programme which supports 80 children and elderly people 3 days a week.
Community Social Mobilisation Programme (awareness campaigns & dialogues) and Motivational Speaking.
Multi-media services (video, photography and sound system hire).
BENEFICIARIES
Our direct beneficiaries are the unemployed youth and the community at large (men, women, learners, homeless kids, children in charge of households, vulnerable people, families without an income) who is accessing our packaged information and services.
Other beneficiaries are 17 dedicated volunteers passionate about Community and Youth Development who have completed the ABCD training offered by Ikhala Trust. They have established networks with a number of local stakeholders and companies.
